I was putting together another computer a few weeks back and ran into a typical problem with Windows Vista. There are only so many IRQ assignments and resources in Vista, like XP, and many motherboards tend to run into problems when the operating system takes over IRQ assignments. The Asus M2A-VM with the AMD 690G Chipset that has the ATI Radeon Xpress 1250 built-in video card has issues identifying the video card with a bios older than 901 in Vista. XP works fine with any bios. When I was searching the internet for this problem before, nothing showed up. The bios release notes for the board indicated no problem/fix for the Vista issue, but it worked anyway. So, give the 901 or higher bios a try if you’ve been having video card issues with Vista and the Radeon Xpress 1250 built-in video.
